Where to Find Chalcedony in Utah

Utah chalcedony shows up across the western deserts and the volcanic country of the Mineral Mountains and Wah Wah ranges. Surface float of pale gray and white chalcedony is common on the dry lake margins south of Delta. The most productive ground is in Dugway geode beds (Juab County), Black Rock Desert (Millard County), Topaz Mountain area (Juab County).

Casual hand collection of common rocks and minerals like chalcedony is allowed on most BLM and U.S. Forest Service land in Utah, with daily and annual limits set by the local field office. National parks, most state parks, and tribal land are off-limits. Always confirm rules before a trip.
